Missie True Matthews

   Funeral mass for Missie True Matthews, who died on June 9, 2014 in Lawton, Okla., will be held ­­­­­­­­ at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Officiating will be Father Jack McKone, Father Joy Joseph, Deacon Art Casias and Rev. Ron Fox. Interment will be at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Rosary will be held 3:15 p.m. ,Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel.
   Matthews was born April 17, 1947 in Kingsville to E.C. and Jeanette True.  She moved to Vernon in 1974.  She married Dr. Doug Matthews on April 26, 1975. She worked for Vernon Regional Junior College for 35 years as the assistant to the president.  She was a member of the Boys and Girls Club Board as well as the Child Welfare board for many years.
   Survivors include her husband, Dr. Doug Matthews of Lawton, Okla.; three children, Scott Hill of Rogers, Ark., Heather Love of Vernon and Tiffany Patterson of Little Elm; seven grandchildren, and a sister, Claudia True of Overland Park, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.C. and Jeanette True, and a brother, Conrad True.
   Pallbearers will be Bill Pinchak, Bobby Byars, Steve Brown, James Wright, Curtis Graf, Phil McCuistion, Wilson Friberg, Wayne Parks, Sam Ard and Scott Briggs.
   Memorials can be made to Missie Matthews Scholarship Fund at Vernon College.
