Bobbie Ruth Southerland

   Bobbie Ruth Southerland, 78, of Punkin Center, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Electra. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Electra Memorial Park with Rev. Darwin Stroud, pastor of the First Assembly of God in Electra, officiating.
   Southerland was born Jan. 5, 1937 in Oklaunion to the late Quincy Vernon Couch and Pearl Katie McDuff Couch. She graduated from Oklaunion High School and from Texas Woman’s University in Denton with a Bachelors Degree in English. After receiving her teaching certificate, she was employed by the Electra School District for a few years before becoming employed by the Harrold School District where she taught English, business and typing for 21 years until her retirement in 1985. After her retirement, she and her husband owned and operated “The Den” in Electra until December 1989.  She also made pies professionally for the public and for the Whistle Stop Cafe in Electra. She and Bob Southerland were married on July 23, 1984 in Dumas. She had been a resident of Punkin Center since 1976.
   Survivors include her husband; her son, Quincy Yarbrough of Electra; her sister, Bettie Atkission of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
   Visitation will be held from 6 p.m., to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
