Nina Leona Combest

   Graveside services for Nina Leona Combest, 95 of Vernon, who died on Monday, March 16, 2015, in Vernon, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 Gilliland Cemetery in Gilliland under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Officiating will be A.B. Martin.
   Combest was born Tuesday, March 25, 1919 in Gilliland. She was the daughter of the late Joe Delbert Cook and the late Elsie Meredith Cook. She was a graduate of Truscott High School.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Krebs Motor Co. for 30 plus years and had numerous honors from GM. She also worked for Montgomery Ward, Campbell’s Motor Co. and Wilbarger County VA Office. She was a member of the Rebekka Lodge. She was a member of Wilbarger Street Church of Christ. She was a homemaker.
   She is survived by her son, Joe Combest of Lubbock; two daughters, Barbara Henson of Lawton, Okla., and Penny Baker of Vernon; one brother, Howard Cook of Granbury; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Byrd, and her brother, J.T. Cook.
   Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 19, at Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Memorials can be made to Gilliland Cemetery Association.
