Barbara Theola Jones
Barbara Theola Jones passed away in Alvarado on Friday, May 9, 2015 at the age of 79.
Theola was preceded by her husband, Ronald Lee Jones; her parents, Curt Bivins and Myrtle Lovell Bivins, and a brother, Thomas Bivins.
She is lovingly remembered by her three sons, Jackie and wife Donna of Cleburne, Guy and wife Teretha of Mission, and Bluford Jones of Chillicothe, as well as her biggest joys in life, her grandchildren, Zack and Amy, and Baileigh Jones of Cleburne, Lacy Jones, Jessy and Darrin Everage of Mission, and great-grandchildren, Ava, Ty, Kolbie, Mariah, Dreux and Grayson; her siblings, Doug Bivins and Danny Bivins of Vernon, Christine Ely of Blair, Okla., Johnny Bivins of Dalhart, Sammy Bivins of Chillicothe, Ricky Bivins of Quanah, and Peggy Haynes of Peoria, Ariz., along with many nieces and nephews.
Theola or “Sis” was born in Cuthand, Texas on Feb. 3, 1936. She was the second of nine children. Her family moved to Chillicothe in 1947 where she attended school and met her future husband, Ronnie. They were married on May 10, 1955. She worked for many years at the Vernon Manufacturing Company and later worked at North Texas State Hospital, until she retired in 2006.
Theola was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and 42 player. She loved fishing and all things John Wayne and Willie Nelson. She was known for being a wonderful cook – her family especially loved her dressing on holidays.
The memorial service will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe on Saturday, May 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
She was a breast cancer survivor and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to The Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or Susan G. Komen, P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
