Carol Ann Bunch Norris
The world and North Central Texas lost Carol Ann Bunch
Norris on Aug. 15, 2024. Carol was surrounded by the love and
care of family, friends, and hospice angels who helped facilitate
a peaceful transiti
on at her private home on the family farm.
A family celebration of life is scheduled for a later date.
Born in Vernon, Texas to Floyd E. and Annie Mae (Douglas)
Bunch, Carol was the third of six siblings and attended public
school in Vernon. Carol graduated from Vernon High School in
1966, and from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M
Commerce) in 1970. Carol worked in Dallas as an accountant
until 1976.and it was there that she met the love of her life,
George Louis Norris. They married in 1976, and Carol and George moved to the farm
in 1977 where they eventually designed and built their own home.
George and Carol were the owners of Bunch-Norris Agencies in downtown Vernon.
Carol was an IRS Enrolled Agent specializing in taxation in addition to being an
insurance agent. Carol was proud to be an independent business owner.
Pragmatic and caring, Carol excelled at family. Carol did her best to support the
happiness of her family and close friends. Carol “mothered” many, and George’s two
children, Judson McKay Norris and Martha Kathleen (Norris) Baldwin were lucky
enough to be among those who call her kin.
Carol was a self-taught gourmet who loved bringing exotic and comforting food to
the table for anyone who showed up. Her kitchen was lled with music, warmth, and
food for the soul. Carol brought simple things to life and made them dance.
Carol’s other great gift thrived in her gardens. Carol learned farming before she could
talk, and her relationship with the soil and seeds and the elements was a balance of
respect, science, artistry, and magic. She created an oasis of owers and food in the dry
pastureland of Odell, Texas. Her gifts followed Carol everywhere.
Carol is survived by three brothers, James Ron Bunch, Douglas Bunch, and Robert
Bunch, all of Wilbarger County, her two beloved stepchildren, Judson McKay Norris
(Tanya Ragland) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Martha Norris Baldwin (Lance Baldwin)
of Greenville Junction, Maine. Also surviving are ve grandchildren: Avery C. Norris
of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Benjamin C. Baldwin, Mailer J. Baldwin, Gabriel S. Baldwin
and Abraham S. Baldwin of Greenville Junction, Maine. Carol leaves behind beloved
nieces and nephews and their children as well as the countless people she welcomed,
laughed with, and loved throughout the years.
Carol is preceded in death by Floyd Bunch, Annie Bunch, George Norris, Jerry
Bunch, and Judy Bunch.
