25 Vernon Lions named All-District in District 4-3A D1
The Vernon Lions football squad had been recognized for its recent campaign, going 9-4 and advancing to the 3A regional playoffs.
Junior quarterback Ty Scott was named District 4-3A Offensive Player of the Year. Scott completed74 0f 125 passes for 1,222 yards and rushed 126 times for 1,222 yards.
In all eight Lions were named first team all-district, seven were second team all-district, and 10 were honorable mention. Eleven Lions were recognized as academic all-district.
“Our Vernon Lions worked very hard all year. As a coaching staff, we are not only proud of their accomplishments on the field, but of the fine young men they are off the field as well. It has been our privilege to coach this crop of young athletes this football season. We are very proud of these young men and all they have accomplished this year,” Coach Kevin Sherrill said. “The great season they put together is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. If you see any of these young men in our halls or out in the community, please congratulate them on a job well done.”
