Patricia Diann Schur Donges of Vernon, Texas passed
away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Vernon, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, March
9, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven
Brummett officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview
Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Patsy was born in Rosevelt, OK, in her home, to PC and
Katherine Lutz Jouett. Her father worked on the railroad.
She married Charles Vertis Schur on August 4, 1957.
She was known as Mrs. Schur to hundreds of
kindergarten children starting in 1966 to 1996 at St. Paul
Lutheran School. She always started the school day with
prayer. By the end of the school year the prayers were numerous as all of the
children had prayer request. She carried out “prayer” throughout her lifetime as
she had a very large list she would take to bed and would fall asleep praying.
She and her mother taught Sunday School for many years. Patsy also led the
singing for St. Paul Lutheran School, Sunday School and Vacation Bible school.
She was a faithful choir member, led the choir and was a member of LWML.
She served as District Director for the Wilbarger County Soil and Water
Conservation District for ten years. She was the Woman of the Year at the Doan’s
Picnic in 2025.
She was a very loving mother to her daughter Cindy married to Greg Inglish, of
Vernon, Charles Alan Schur married to Julie of Knox City, and Chris Schur
married to Cristi also of Vernon. Her greatest title was Meme. She had five
grandchildren, Dr. Bailie and Bob White of Princeton, TX, Meagan and Seth
Raines of Bristow, OK, Jessy and Andy Shaver of Knox City, TX, Cory and
Rachel Schur of Vernon, TX and Cole and Skyler Schur of Crowell, TX. She was
also blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two
brothers, Ricky Jouett of Vernon, TX, and Donald Jouett of Coweta, OK. We will
all miss her dearly.
She is proceeded in death by Charles Schur on Feb. 3, 2003, and her sister,
Doris Gibbs.
She married Charles Donges on March 18, 2006. Charles Donges passed away
on Feb. 19, 2019.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until funeral services began on Monday, March 9,
2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church from.
