City Commissioners to Consider Increasing Water Allocation to Red River Authority
The City of Vernon Commission will consider a request from the Red River Authority of Texas to amend a contract to allocate additional city water to the RRA Box Water System.
In a letter to City Manager Darell Kennon, RRA is requesting the City of Vernon to increase its daily water allocation by 60,000 gallons.
The letter reads in part:
“The Authority is in the planning phase for a new project in the RRA Box WS service area located at 12567 FM
3430, Vernon, Texas 76384, United States. To adequately serve the projected demands of this new
development, the Authority estimates requiring an additional 60,000 Gallons of water per day over our current
contracted baseline. This would increase the total contractual monthly RRA Box WS allocation from 1.892 million
gallons to 3.692 million gallons. The project is:
• Development Type: Modular Data Center Development
• Project Name: Platon Data Center Site
• Projected Build-Out and Need Date: November 2026”
Commissioners will consider RRA’s request during a regular business meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at city hall.
