O.T. (Tony) Baker

  Funeral services for O.T. (Tony) Baker, 94, of Vernon, who died on Friday April 25, 2014 in Lawton, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toby Castleberry officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Baker was born on May 24, 1919 in Burkett.  He was the son of the late James A. Baker Sr. and the late Lillie Cason. He married Juanita Williams on Nov. 4, 1941 in Vernon.  She preceded him in death on July 24, 2002. He later married Opal Wilkinson on Jan. 25, 2003 in Vernon. She preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2005. He had been a resident of Vernon since 1941. He served in the US Army during WWII as a combat medic and received the Medal of Valor. He was a member of the Vernon Masonic Lodge #655, and the Order of Eastern Star. He had worked for Dr Pepper for 20 years before opening the Conoco Station, retiring when he was 77. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
   Survivors are four brothers, James A. Baker Jr., of Brownwood, Robert C. Baker of Brownwood, Edwin Earl Baker of Brownwood and Jerry Odell Baker of Odessa; two sisters, Lillie Mae Burton and Ovella Harris, both of Coleman; eight grandchildren;  20 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by two sons, Tony Michael Baker and Jimmy Otis Baker and one daughter, Shirley Holt.
    Family visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Tuesday April 29, 2014 at the funeral home.
   Memorials may be made to the Vernon Masonic Lodge.
   Pallbearers will be Lane Baker, Tony Holt, Thomas Parsons,  Bobby Joe Holt and Colton Burrus.
