Hilda Lee Williford
Funeral services for Hilda Lee Williford, 88, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 in Lunn’s Colonial Chapel with Dr. David Hartman, Minister at First Christian Church officiating. The graveside service will follow at 12 noon, in Eastview Memorial Cemetery in Vernon under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williford died Thursday, June 5, 2014 in Hospice. She was born Sept. 16, 1925 to Clyde and Francis Jewell (Smith) Turkett in Vernon. She was the oldest of eight siblings.
She married Eddie Burhl Williford in 1946. They worked as butchers in Wichita Falls, Vernon, Lubbock, San Angelo and Arizona. After returning to Wichita Falls, she retired from Safeway Food Stores, where she was a member of the Meat Cutters and Butchers Local 540.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. B. Williford in May 1979; daughter, Linda Lane in August 1995; two sisters, Betty Kelly and Delores “Rose” Turkett Dodd; and three brothers, Marvin Turkett, W.R. “Dub” Turkett and Doyle Turkett.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie Tucker and wife Sheila of Dean; Clyde Williford and wife Joanne of Wichita Falls; sister, Judy Smith of Vernon; brother Mike Turkett of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren, Stevie Goodwin, Lonnie Don Tucker, Lance Tucker, Daryl Tucker, Rick Williford, LeeAnn Stride and Kerry Velasquez, and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home Sunday, June 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. for visitation.
