QUANAH – Jerry Todd Melton, 56, formerly of Quanah, died on Monday, July 21, 2014, in Decatur,. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, Wichita Falls under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Melton was born Oct. 15, 1957 to the late Charles Kenneth Melton and Peggy Joyce Campsey Melton in Childress. He was a tool pusher for Patterson UTI. He was a resident of Quanah, Vernon and moved to Wichita Falls in 2006. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed animals.
He is survived by his wife. Elaine Melton of Wichita Falls’ a son, Jerrimy Gibson of Vernon; a daughter, Summer Harris of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Sherry Melton of Lake Bridgeport and Mark Melton of Quanah, and his stepmother, Jan Melton of Quanah. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Kenneth Melton; mother, Peggy Joyce Campsey Melton, and a son, Barry Keith Melton.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
The family has requested Memorials be sent to American Cancer Society and American Heart Association.
