Lillian Syble (Granny) Allen
Lillian Syble (Granny) Allen, 87, of Duncan, went to be with her Savior peacefully on Friday Oct. 31, 2014 in her home surrounded by loving family and friends, after a courageous battle of breast cancer.
Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 5, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Duncan, Okla., with the Pastor Bryan Pain officiating and Pastor James Robinson whom was taught in church and Bible School by Mrs. Allen in Pauls Valley, Okla. Interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive guests on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Lillian was born Nov. 13, 1926 at Henrietta, Texas to William W. and Lottie Hargrove. She married Floyd Kenneth Allen in 1945. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1992.
Lillian was very active at Pauls Valley Trinity Baptist Church where she raised her children. She was an active member of the VFW. She was very devoted to her family and friends. She loved the outdoors and taking her road trips with family members. Her passion was cooking. She worked for the Pauls Valley School System in the cafeteria, Pauls Valley State School for the impaired, and she also worked with the Master Chef at East Central State University. Lillian was retired as of 1972.
Survivors include three children and their spouses: Floyd Wayne Allen and his wife Sandra, Kelly Sue Lance and her husband Rip, Becky Diane Askins and her husband Stefan; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lottie Hargrove; a son, Ronald D. Allen, granddaughter Courtine Allen and 14 siblings.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Daniel W. Prather, Gary W. Ray, Billy Jack Allen, and great-grandsons, Dillon Bolin and Andrew Bolin. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Harter and Eddie Ernest.
A memorial donation can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1192 at 2012 N HWY 81 Duncan, Okla. 73533 in lieu of flowers.
