Eva Joy Nichols

 

 

   QUANAH – Eva Joy Nichols, 94, of Quanah, died on, Sunday, April 26, 2015 in Quanah. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Holland and Rev. Wayne Hollinshead officiating.  Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.
   Nichols was born Oct. 30, 1920 to the late Henry Robbins and Myrtle Brownlow in Eldorado, Okla.  She married Claude Nichols on April 15, 1950 in Quanah. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2003. She has been a resident of Quanah since 1942. She was the owner/operator of The Children’s Shop in Quanah from 1969 to 1992. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and taught Sunday School to the United Methodist Women.
   She is survived by two daughters, Becky Lynn Barker and Brenda Kay Tabor, both of Quanah; six grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Neva Horton in 2011; two other sisters, Lena Harris and Ada Mae Currey; one brother, John Henry Robbin; one granddaughter, Heather Barker in 1981, and a great-grandson, Hudson Barker in 2013.
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home.
   Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
