MG Garvin

 

 

 

   MG Garvin of Garland, passed away Tuesday, April 28, after a brief illness.  Born in Crowell to Evalyn and Marion Garvin, he retired from Garland ISD after teaching middle school choir for 38 years. He directed the music at Temple Baptist Church for 30 years and was the voice of Williams Stadium over 30 years.
   MG spent his life working with students – encouraging, mentoring, and motivating them. MG had a love of life and an easy manner.  Strangers to him were just new friends. 
   He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Teena;  their daughter Kristi and her daughter Eliora; son Matt and wife Jenny, their daughters Minda, Kaya, and Georgia.
   A memorial service will celebrate his life at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 2, at Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Road, Dallas, with family visitation following at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in MG’s memory to the Garland ISD Education Foundation for music scholarships to GISD students (972.487.3253).
