Ignacio N. Medina

   Ignacio N. Medina, 82, of Childress, died on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the Chapel at Smith Funeral Home in Quanah with family visitation following from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church with Deacon Art Casis, Father Philip and Chaplin Randy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Goodlett Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
   Medina was born on June 23, 1933 in Adkins, to the late Cresencio and Martina Negrete Medina. He married Virginia Llanas Medina on Sept. 7, 1954 in San Antonio. She preceded him in death July of 1991.  Medina came to Quanah in March of 1957, going to work for the late Spot Irving and later for the McNabb Cattle Company of Quanah. In October of 1969 he went to work for Georgia Pacific Corp. as a heavy equipment operator, where he remained until his retirement after 39 years in 2008. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Quanah and Holy Angel Catholic Church in Childress. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
   He is survived by four sons, Ignacio (Noch) Medina Jr. of Mangum, Okla., Juan Jose Medina of Quanah, Chris Medina of Eldorado, Okla., and Mario Medina of Goodlett; four daughters, Juanita (Janie) Railsback and Virginia (Kay) Brachwitz of Seymour, Pauline Mobley of Quanah, and Frances Medina Thomas of Childress; 15 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia; an infant daughter, two grandsons Juan Rios, Jr. and J.J. Medina, a daughter, Sherry (Terry) Rios, and a brother, Rosendo Medina,
   Memorials can be made to CRMC Hospice, Childress, Texas and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Quanah, Texas.
