Ollie Mae Stewart
Ollie Mae Stewart, 97, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015. Services will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30. Pastor Earley Williams, III will officiate, and the Rev. E.J. Tyson will deliver the eulogy.
Stewart was born July 5, 1918 in Bonham to the late Lillie Mae and Norman Reed. She moved to Vernon with her mother when she was five years old. She married Zollie Stewart. In 2005, she was named Vernon’s “Citizen of the Year” for her service in the community through her extensive volunteer and church work.
She is survived by her son, Will (W.R.) Stewart of New York City; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Mae and Norman Reed; her daughters, Julia Carole Parker and Winifred Ford, and a son, Charles Stewart.
