Lona Alene Barnes

   Lona Alene Barnes (Alene) passed away on Nov. 6, 2015 at her home in Terrell, Texas.
   Alene was born in Aylesworth, Bartie Lee Shorter and Lottie Marie Easley Shorter.
   Alene was an excellent seamstress who loved to quilt.  She was strongly devoted to her family especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.  Alene also had a green thumb for gardening and gave special love and care to her flowerbeds.  She was a thrill seeker who enjoyed going fast. She loved riding down the highway at high speeds often encouraging her children to drive faster. Alene was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Terrell and a devout Christian who dedicated her life to instilling in her children a love for the Lord.
   Alene is preceded in death by her parents,  Bartie and Marie Shorter;  her beloved husband, Hubert Barnes; a brother, Everett Shorter; sisters, Lois Holt and Delores Collier; daughter, Marilyn Vrazel; granddaughter, Carrie Barnes;  great-granddaughter, Catherine  Barnes; great-grandson, Christopher Barnes, and her daughter-in-law, Twila Barnes.
   Alene leaves to cherish her legacy her daughter, Wanda Dockery and husband Thomas of Wills Point, Texas; daughter, Darlene Hodges and husband Wesley of Quinlan, Texas; son, Darrell Barnes and wife Patsy of Freeport, Texas; son, Wayne Barnes and wife Lin of Whitesboro, Texas;  son, Terry Barnes and wife Carolyn of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Janine Burnett and husband Mark of Terrell, Texas; sister, Elsie Beard of Dallas, Texas; sister, Opal Kirtley and husband Thurman of Muldoon, Texas, along with 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews , extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
   Funeral services for Alene will be held Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel. Family will begin receiving friends at 9 a.m., Monday Nov. 9, 2015. Interment will be Tuesday Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Vernon, Texas.
