Genevieve Barbara Descher

   OKEENE, Okla. – Genevieve Barbara Descher of Okeene, Okla., died on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 in Okeene. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Okeene with Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene in charge of arrangements. Rosary services will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene.
   Descher was born on Aug. 25, 1918 in Okeene, Okla., to John Joseph and Anna Marie (Gette) Farhar. She was a resident of Okeene for most of her life. She worked for many years at the Okeene Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Okeene, Okla., and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She married Joseph Herman Descher in Okeene on April 24, 1940.
   She is survived by five daughters, Jean Baustert of Sherman, Paula Culbert of Oklahoma City, Okla., Stephanie Dudley of Oklahoma City, Okla., Judy Ritz of Forney and Carol Coulter of Canyon; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1996; six brothers and seven sisters.
