Duane A. Foster, Sr.
Funeral services for Duane A. Foster, Sr., 79 of Vernon, who died on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, in Vernon, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 at the Vernon Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Mays and Rev. Gary Chapman. Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Foster was born Saturday, April 4, 1936 in Tacoma, Wash. He was the son of the late Arthur Foster. He married Myrtle Mann on Sept. 25, 1978 in Altus, Okla. He had lived in Vernon for many years. In the late 70’s he worked at Wilbarger General Hospital and later worked for more than 20 years at Wilbarger County courthouse as maintenance supervisor. He also was a Wilbarger County Weather Watcher for 40 years. He served in the United States Marines. He was a member of the Vernon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Foster of the home; one son, Duane A. Foster Jr., of Nashville, N.C.; one daughter, Marion Hamor of Rocky Mount, N.C.; two stepsons, Roger Henry of Frederick, Okla., and Calvin Henry of Pittsburg, Texas; three stepdaughters, Linda Williams of Mountainburg, Ark., Jennifer Parry of Longmont, Colo., and Wanda Bates of Longmont, Colo; one brother; one sister; four grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Fry and Shirley Henry.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
