Gordon Thompson
Funeral services for Gordon Thompson, 73, who died on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 in Wichita Falls, will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015 at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hilda Cavazos officiating. Interment will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Thompson was born Monday, May 25, 1942 in Little Rock, Ark. He was the son of the late Msgt. Harry Thompson and the late Jimmie Whitehead Thompson. He married Monika Kurz on Dec. 12, 1964 in Hessental, Germany. He moved to Vernon in 1951. He had served in the United States Army as an Artillery Sgt., serving in Vietnam and also in the Marine Corp as a machine gunner Lcpl.
He had worked for the City of Vernon as a meter reader for 22 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association and was a lifetime member of the Vernon VFW. He was also a member of Oddfellows and the Patriot Guard. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Monika Thompson of the home; two brothers, Ronnie Thompson of Vernon, and Harry Thompson of Barstow, Calif., three nephews; two nieces as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church.
