Shelley Bowers
Shelley Bowers, 80 of Bastrop, died on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, in Austin. Graveside services will be held Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Tom Long.
Shelley was born Tuesday, March 12, 1935 in Shallowater, Texas. She was the daughter of the late L A Bell and the late Ethel Frost Bell. She married Ronnie Bowers on Aug. 21, 1954 in Vernon. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2011. She had lived in Vernon from 1945 to 1995.
She worked alongside her husband owning and operating Bowers Oil Co. in Vernon.
She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Vernon and a member of First United Methodist Church in Bastrop. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Mikel Bowers and wife, Sharon, of Dallas; her daughter, Julia Ewing and husband, Jeff, of Bastrop; one sister, Robbie Bell of Vernon; grandsons, Greyson Bowers, of Dallas, Davis Stribling and wife, Sarah, Round Rock, and Blake Stribling and wife, Brittany, of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ansley Stribling of Round Rock, and Jack Stribling of San Antonio.
Visitation will be Sunday Dec. 27, 2015 at from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home.
