Charles Edward Parker
Charles Edward Parker, 86 of Vernon, died on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at the First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dave Treat and Rev. Gib Baskerville. Interment will be held at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Parker was born Tuesday, June 25, 1929 in Lavon. He was the son of the late Paul H. Parker and the late Annabell McCowan Parker. He married Cora Ringo on Jan. 13, 1962. He was a graduate of Vernon High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Korean Conflict. He worked as a butcher and for the United States Postal Service for 20 years, served as a county commissioner and the Police Chaplin for Vernon Police Department. He was owner and operated New Par Tank Trucks. He was the youth director at Lockett Baptist Church as well as song leader. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was president of the J. Carl Smith Sunday School Class. He was active for a number of years in the choir. He also served at Mission SVC Corp Volunteers in Arizona at Ft. Mojave. He was a volunteer at the Cupboard by Grace Food Pantry.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Parker, of the home; two sons, Troy Talton Fennell of Mt. Belvieu and Bobby Jack Fennell of Vernon; his daughters, Brenda Charleen Baker of Vernon, Katherine A Parker-Ingle of Duncanville and Paula Ruth Parker of Wichita Falls; one sister, Dorothy J Parker of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
