Warren Murphy
Warren Murphy, age 86, of Quanah, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 in Quanah. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 at Quanah Memorial Park with Rev. Monte Lumpkin officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.
Mr. Murphy was born November 20, 1929 to the late J.B. “Bunyon” and Lula Kerley Murphy in Foard County, TX. He married Lucille Bottoms on Dec. 24, 1950. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1998. He worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. He worked as a carrier and then the assistant postmaster. He was a farmer and a rancher. He was also a professional photographer with many of his photos in the Quanah Museum and Hardeman County Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Quanah Volunteer Fire Department and the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by: one son, Mike Murphy and wife Jill of Vernon; one daughter, Mary Margaret Gossett and husband Jim of Quanah; two sisters, Shirley Ribble of Garland and Betty Loudermilk of Sun City, Ariz.; two grandsons, Cory Gossett and wife Kristen of Arlington, and Justin Gossett of Wichita Falls; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Murphy.
Memorial may be made to the Quanah Fire Department or Thompson Sawyer Library in Quanah.
