Meal, display lighting highlights holiday

Thursday will be a busy day in Vernon as residents celebrate Thanksgiving and will have the opportunity to take part in at least two community events to launch the holiday season.
At 12 noon on Thursday, the traditional community Thanksgiving meal will be served in the Empire Room of Wilbarger Auditorium. Preparations have been underway for several weeks for the meal, which is one of two under the Holiday Spirit program with the second being the Christmas Day meal. There is no charge for either meal.
