Talbot’s plans downtown grand opening on Saturday

A grand opening is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at Talbot’s Home Showroom Furniture and Flooring, 1432 Main.
The business, operated by Billy and Carolyn Talbot, has been located at 1509 Main for many years. The new location, caddy corner from the old location, is in a building that has been extensively remodeled and offers more space than the previous location. Talbot’s, which had previously been primarily a carpet and flooring business, has expanded to include home furniture, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, and window coverings, and custom made cabinetry.
“Come check out our remodel and new offerings,” said Billy Talbot.
The furniture lines will include couches, chairs, rockers, recliners, lamps, tables (coffee and end) with chairs, and bedding. Talbot’s soon plans to offer financing options for purchases.
There will be door prizes given away during the grand opening on Saturday. A children’s play area will also be available at the store.
Talbot’s business hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The building is one of the oldest in Vernon. It was built 135 years ago, Talbot said. Inside the Talbots are updating the ground floor to be a showroom and have put a delivery door on the south facing wall. There are plans to renovate the second level as well. Recently, Talbot applied for a grant with the Vernon Main Street advisory board to assist in renovating the structure.
