Thornberry reacts to recent missile testing

On Monday, the Missile Defense Agency conducted the most complex test of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense System ever attempted. Preliminary results indicate that the test met all primary objectives successfully. The test involved two ground-based interceptors, launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, and one ICBM-class target.
Rep. Mac Thornberry said the action was vital.
“Every test is crucial. We learn from all of them, even when they fail. However, yesterday’s GMD test is the most complex ever attempted and its success is important. Missile Defense programs are a vital part of our future security, one that has been politicized for too long. I will continue to support the work of the Missile Defense Agency in developing and fielding reliable missile defense capabilities to protect our homeland.”
