Wilbarger General Hospital: 50 years

Wilbarger General Hospital will host a 5oth Anniversary Celebration on Tuesday — and you are invited.
The event is Tuesday, June 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Food trucks, bounce house, Air Evac Helicopters static display and more will be available for the community.
“We hope everyone will attend. This is the community’s hospital and we want them to celebrate with us,” Chief Executive Officer Dennis Jack said.
Food trucks will open for business at 4 p.m. The lineup includes: Cody’s Cowpunchers BBQ, Blue Armadillo, Bella J’s Gelato from Lubbock, Jordan Craft BBQ from Wichita Falls, and Kona Ice who will be doing a fundraiser for “The Buddy System”. The Buddy System is a group of volunteers raising money to sponsor adoptions for people in need of companionship to improve their mental and physical health as well as helping with boarding costs for people’s pets while they are in the hospital.
For Heavens Confections will be at the event, serving Cuban Panini, Cajun Meatloaf Gyro, Fish Taco, Cake in a Cup, quarter pound cookies, Mocha and Caramel Frappe, and flavored Ice Teas.
Pepperberries will also be in attendance with balloons for the kids and an animal balloon corral featuring walking balloons. Mid-Week Farmers Market vendors will also be in attendance for the regularly scheduled mid-week market.
WGH employees will be serving free popcorn and cotton candy while supplies last. There will be a bounce house for the kids provided by Jolly Jump of Vernon.
The presentations will begin at 4:30 p.m. Reverend Irl Holt will open the event in prayer, CEO Dennis Jack will welcome guests and there will be a presentation of a 50 Year Award from the Texas Hospital Association.
Congressman Mac Thornberry’s office will also present an American Flag recently flown over the United States Capitol in honor of Wilbarger General’s 50th Anniversary.
Live entertainment by Chris Shackelford Band will begin at 5 p.m.
Air Evac Lifeteam will be present with two helicopters for the public to view and take photos with. The pilots will be available to explain the functions of the aircraft and answer questions. Air Evac has provided free t-shirts for the event that will be given away throughout the evening.
Guests can sit in a shaded seating area to enjoy the food and entertainment or they can bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and sit out on the lawn.
Jack added that no hospital funds were spent on the celebration — it was funded through donations.
