Commissioners update on Covid-19 status

Wilbarger County Judge Greg Tyra reported that local nursing homes have been tested by state and he had received no reports of coronavirus from that testing. Testing of state employees at all three campuses of North Texas State Hospital is also underway, and results will be reported at a later date.

There are no new coronavirus cases in Wilbarger County. There have been seven according to the latest state numbers with five recoveries.

Judge Tyra also reported that the Wilbarger County Jail received its annual jail inspection last week and passed with no deficiencies. The commission voiced appreciation for the work of Sheriff Bill price and the jail staff.

In action items, the commission approved the renewal of a lease agreement on a road machine for Precinct 1. Commissioner John Wright said the lease agreement was up this year and would have required a balloon payment if not extended. The lease was extended five years and an extended 4-year warranty was also added. The cost is $27,006 and was approved on a motion from commissioner Josh Patterson.

The commissioners also unanimously approved the sale of tax property at 1212 Bismarck Street for $50.
