Fireworks show set Saturday
The City of Vernon’s annual fireworks show for the 4th of July will be held at Lion Stadium and will be held on, Saturday, July 4.
The show will be similar to previous year’s, when it was held at the stadium. It is expected t0 include at least 180 artillery shells, 15 3-inch shot racks, and 65 multi-shot cakes. This is anticipated to provide 2.16 shots per second with an estimated total of 2,590 shots in 20 minutes.
Social distancing in encouraged. Seating will be allowed in the stadium, but groups must be smaller than 10. Social distancing of at least six-feet between groups will be followed.
Also, watchers are encouraged to stay in their cars in the parking lot, or to bring a lawn chair and set up on the High School lawn.
In addition, churches in the area, including First Presbyterian, are planning to hold watch parties.
Last year the city hosted the Red River Rhythm at the Santa Rosa Rodeo Grounds. Due to COVID-19, the city canceled Red River Rhythm for this year.
