Chillicothe ISD approves tax rate

The Chillicothe ISD board of trustees held a special meeting on Aug 31 to approve a budget and set a tax rate. A Public Hearing was held at 6:05 p.m. on the 2020-2021 proposed budget and tax rate. Superintendent Todd Wilson explained the proposed budget and tax. rate to the board.

Trustee Cheryl McGlocklin made the following motion that the Chillicothe Independent School District set the tax rate on $100 valuation for the district for the tax year 2020 at a total rate of$0.9164 for maintenance and operations and $0.33 for the payment of principal and interest on debts, to be assessed and collected by the duly specified collector. The total tax  rate will be $1.25. The motion passed 6-0.

A motion was made by Seth Baird and seconded by Mike McClellan to adopt the 2020-2021 budget. The motion passed 6-0. The 2020-2021 budget will be a surplus budget.

McClellan motioned for the certification of the 2020 Appraisal Roll, which was seconded by Susan Madl and the motion passed 6-0.

The SHAC wellness policy was unanimously approved, with a motion from Madl. McClellan made the motion to approve the Extra Curricular Activities including 4-H. It passed 6-0. The community eligibility provision meal program was unanimously approved with a motion from Baird.
