Gold Star Mothers honored by VFW Auxiliary
Two Gold Star Mothers were recently honored by the Vernon VFW Auxiliary. VFW Auxiliary Post 4747 President, Mary Campbell and Senior Vice, Christina Schoonover honored Wilbarger County’s two Gold Star Mothers’ at their homes, presenting both with yellow roses.
Danita Logsdon of Vernon is the Gold Star Mother of Army Corporal Ryan D. Collins whose unit was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Corp. Collins died on May 18, 2007 in Hamiyah, Iraq of wounds sustained when his unit came in contact with the enemy forces using small-arms fire.
Ann Gilmore of Oklaunion is the Gold Star Mother of PFC Eldon Wayne Moore who gave his life in defense of his country at Bin Hue, South Vietnam on April 1, 1970.
