One killed in Wednesday accident in Oklaunion

A fatality accident occurred on the curve in Oklaunion at approximately 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020 according to DPS Trooper Sgt. Dan Buesing.

A 2011 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Paxton Cole Nelson, 20 of Plano, Texas, was traveling south on US highway 287 just east of Oklaunion. The pickup entered the center median for unknown reason, over corrected to the right which caused a side skid across the highway. The pickup entered the right ditch and rolled several times ejecting the unsecured driver. Nelson was pronounced dead on scene.

Passenger, Chrislynn Nelson, also of Plano, was extracted and transported by Vernon Fire/EMS to Vernon’s hospital with serious injuries. There areo updates on her condition at this time Buesing stated.

Conditions at the time of the accident were reported as dry, clear and windy. This information is from a preliminary crash investigation, information can change as more details are discovered.
