Murder suspect killed in Baylor County
Chase Coats,34, a suspect in a shooting in Lubbock was killed Friday in Baylor County as officers tried to arrest him.
DPS trooper Dan Buesing said the suspect shot at law enforcement officials, and they returned fire, killing him.
Buesing said no officiers were injured but there was some property damaged.
Baylor County sheriff’s deputies spotted Coats’ vehicle and tried to stop him when Coats reportedly shot at them. Coats was killed during the ensuing gun battle.
The Lubbock Sheriff’s Office found Russell Coats, 56, dead inside a rural residence in Lubbock County on Friday night from gunshot wounds. An investigation discovered Russell Coats was killed by his son, Chase. The Texas Rangers are investigating
