Chillicothe ISD trustees hold monthly meeting

Chillicothe school trustees approved the sale of property held in trust during a monthly business meeting Monday, Sept. 12.
That property is located at 1801 6th Street. The sale was on a $1,050 bid submitted by James Givens. The sale was approved by unanimous vote on a motion made by Mike McClellan and seconded by Byron Horn.
High School Principal Brenda Dunlap presented attendance reports for both the high school and elementary school campuses. In that report, it was noted that enrollment numbers as of Sept. 12 totaled 86 for the high school and 117 students at the elementary school with average daily attendances at the campuses reported at 96 percent for the high school and 96.2 percent for the elementary school.
Dunlap said that activities at the high school underway included volleyball, congress debate, junior arms service test and CPR training for seniors.
Dunlop reported that homecoming activities were planned for the week of Sept. 19-23. Those activities include dress-up days throughout the week, junior high football game Thursday, Sept. 22 at Guthrie, a bike and wagon parade at the elementary school Friday, Sept. 23 along with a pep rally at 3 p.m. in the high school gym, and pre-game activities at the football stadium at 6:30 p.m. Followed by the Chillicothe-Guthrie football game at 7:30 p.m. Events for Saturday, Sept. 24 include the Ex-Students reunion at 10 a.m. and a barbecue at 12 noon.
Supt. Tony Martinez reported on the district’s finances and activities.
Present at the Sept. 12 regular meeting were Martinez and trustees McClellan, Horn, Seth Baird, Susan Madl and Cheryl McGlocklin. Also present were Dunlap and Tax Collector/Superintendent’s Secretary Patti Williams.
During a special meeting held Friday, Sept. 9, trustees unanimously approved the final District of Innovation plan on a motion made by McClellan and seconded by Madl. They also approved the minutes of a meeting held Monday, Aug. 29.
Next meeting will be a regular monthly session scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at the CISD Administration Building.
