Betty W. Rexrode

Betty W. Rexrode of Houston passed away on
December 11, 2022 after a two-year battle with
pancreatic cancer. She was 82 years old.
Betty was born in 1940 to Dr. William and Nancy
Wilson in Vernon, Texas. After graduating from
Vernon High School in 1958, and from TCU in 1962,
she began teaching high school in Carrollton, Texas.
Later, while teaching at U.S. Army Headquarters in
Camp Zama, Japan, she met and later married Captain
Ronald Rexrode in 1967. Prior to living in Houston
since 1973, they lived in New York, NY, Indianapolis,
IN, and Arlington, Texas. An avid lover of gardening
and birdwatching, Betty became a Certified Master
Gardener with the Texas A&M Agricultural Extension
Service. She also shared her love of animals and
wildlife by serving as a volunteer at the Edith L.
Moore Nature Sanctuary as a docent, counselor, and board member.
She loved traveling and visited extensively in Europe, East Asia, North
America, and many national parks within in the United States.
Betty was a member of Cinco Ranch Church of Christ in Katy, Texas for 27
years, and Eldridge Road Church of Christ in Sugar Land, Texas for 22 years
where she served on several ministries. Loved by all who knew her, Betty will be
greatly missed by her family and friends, who will remember her as a person of
great kindness and a blessing to others. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and is
survived by her husband, Ron, of 55 years and her two sons, Todd and Andrew of
Houston, Texas.
Interment of ashes will be in Vernon, Texas near her father, Dr. William Wilson,
mother, Nancy Wilson, and brother Billy Wilson all of Vernon, Texas. A memorial
service will be announced in early 2023. In her honor, the family invites you to
