Nelma “Jean” Draper

Nelma “Jean” Draper of Edmond, Okla. went to rest after a prolonged illness on
Wednesday, May 31, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born of Sue and Curtis Acton of Vernon, Texas in 1935. She grew up in
Vernon and attended Vernon High before marrying Douglas David Draper in 1953.
Jean was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter Karen Draper Brueggen
(deceased), and son Dr. David Draper (Palm Springs, Calif.), and Pat and Mary Nell
Brueggen (Okarche, Okla.) Jean was a longtime resident of both Oklahoma City and
Edmond.
Jean shared much joy and laughter over many years with her younger twin sisters
Charlene Halencak (Vernon, Texas) and Pauline Acton Grubbs (Phoenix, Ariz) who
survive her and brothers Art Coleman and Bill Acton (both deceased). She has many
extended family members, numerous nephews and nieces and many friends who will
miss her kind, humble and generous spirit.
Jean was a loving mother who sacrificed greatly, a respected colleague and
co-worker, a favorite aunt to many, and a kindly neighbor to all. Everyone who met
Jean loved her. Yet she reserved the best of herself to being an awesome
grandmother to Jeff Brueggen and Laci (Okarche, Okla.), Kristi and Brian Spomer
(Oklahoma City, Okla.), Lauren Bailey (Washington, DC), Matthew Brueggen
(deceased), Tommy Brueggen (Okarche, Okla.) and Nathan Brueggen (Okarche,
Okla). She was a proud great-grandmother to Ella, Reid, Bennett, Addilyn, and
Payton who gave her much joy and happiness in her last years. Throughout her long
illness she never stopped loving.
In lieu of flowers please make a generous donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s
Association at https://act.alz.org. No services are pending at her request.
