Bettie Lawson

Bettie was born Dec. 4, 1935 in Vernon, Texas and
deceased on March 31, 2024. She lived in Vernon all her life.
She graduated from Vernon High School in 1954, Ranger Jr.
College in 1956 and Midwestern State in 1969. She taught at
Northside for 27 years and then substituted in Vernon schools
for 10 years.
Bettie was a long-time member of the Central Christian
Church where she sang in the choir. She was Charter member
of Wilbarger General Hospital Auxiliary, Charter member of
Red River Valley Museum Guild. She was president of
Council of Arts for 5 years. She was an active member of
Vernon Retired Teachers Association.
Survived by husband Don Lawson of Vernon, Texas;
daughter and son-in-law Randilyn and Dewayne Harrington of Throckmorton, Texas;
son and daughter-in-law Courtney and Tracy Harvey of Arlington, Texas;
grandchildren Brittany and Adam Schneider of New Braunfels, Texas, and Casey and
Madi Harvey of Fort Worth, Texas, and Brady and Krystal Harvey of Mansfield,
Texas; great-grandchildren Braxton Harvey, Calem Schneider, Blakley Harvey, and
Henry Harvey, also nieces, Rhonda Gordon and Tanya Inglish of Vernon, Texas;
nephew Rodney Smithson of Timple, Texas and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Herman and Nora Wilson, first husband
Gordie Harvey, sister Joann Myrick, brother Dewayne Wilson, and grandson Brandon
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Central
Christian Church with Rev. Jim Antwine officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger
Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 6 p.m to 7 p.m. at Sullivan
Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls Tree of Lights.
