Holiday season kicking off in Vernon — lots of activities planned

The Holiday season in Vernon officially kicks off on Thanksgiving Day. Tons of holiday cheer is on hand this year.
— Thursday, Thanksgiving Day has the Holiday Spirit Meal, at the Wilbarger Auditorium. Eat in the auditorium with fellow citizens, volunteer to serve or deliver, or order in a meal. Phones are now available to take requests for delivered meals. Please call (940)414-0401. Leave your name, address, phone number and the number of meals that you are needing delivered.
— Thursday night has the annual lighting of the Christmas decorations on the courthouse square as the Christmas on the Western Trail kicks off.
— Thursday night also has the Vernon on Ice skating rink, located on the square. The rink will be open after the Christmas lighting, and will be open through January 5. Call 940-552-2581 and talk to Haley Bounds about availability and private parties.
— The 19th annual Vernon Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled for December 14 at 6 p.m. with the traditional route planned to travel through downtown, around the courthouse square.
