Flood advisory now, flood watch this week

FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Portions of southwest Oklahoma, including the following  counties, Jackson and Tillman and northern Texas, including the  following counties, Foard, Hardeman and Wilbarger.

* WHEN…Until 1045 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…

– At 745 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is expected to begin shortly in    the advisory area.

– Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor  flooding.

– Some locations that will experience flooding include…    Altus, Quanah, Chillicothe, Olustee, Eldorado, Elmer,    Headrick, Friendship, Odell, Medicine Mound, Goodlett,    Humphreys, Altus Air Force Base, Warren, Hess, Rayland and Copper Breaks State Park.

 

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE…Portions of northern Texas, including the following counties,  Archer, Baylor, Clay, Foard, Hardeman, Knox, Wichita and Wilbarger.

* WHEN…From 7 PM CDT this evening through late Wednesday night.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur  in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be  flooded. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood  with more heavy rain.

 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…  – Several rounds of thunderstorms will result in widespread 2    to 4 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts.
