LA Rams Owner Stan Kroenke becomes Largest Private Landowner in U.S.

The owner of the Los Angeles Rams, Stan Kroenke, who purchased the 520,000 acre Waggoner Ranch in 2016 is being reported as now being the largest landowner in the United States following a New Mexico land purchase.

In December, Kroenke bought about 937,000 acres of land in New Mexico, bringing his total property to more than 2.7 million acres, according to a report in the New York Times.

The Times, which cited the realty-tracking Land Report, said Kroenke’s purchase brings his portfolio to more than twice the size of the state of Delaware.

The December purchase itself was also extraordinarily large, the Times said, as it’s “the largest single land purchase in the U.S. since 2011.”
