Special City Commission Meeting Set Feb.18
A special meeting of the Vernon City Commission is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at city hall.
The first item of business on the agenda is an executive session to consult with the city attorney.
Following the executive session the commission will reconvene in open session to discuss, consider and take possible action on a water supply contract with Long Range Development, LLC. During the Jan. 19, 2023 city commission meeting the commission approved the sale of water to Pease River Development RV Park, LLC, pending the approval of a contract. At the time, city staff developed the contract working with Pease River Development and city attorney Sage Seal. A new company has been formed, Long Range Development, LLC, and that company is requesting to dissolve the current contract and create a new contract with Long Range Development.
In a separate agenda item, the commission will discuss, consider and take possible action on a wastewater contract with Long Range Development, LLC. Long Range is requesting to enter into a contract with the City of Vernon to accept their wastewater from outside th city limits. City Manager Darell Kennon is recommending to the commission that they approve the contract.
