Lillie Geneva Fry Barker
Lillie Geneva Fry Barker,
90, of Bowie, Texas, went
to be with Jesus on Oct. 2,
2026. Born June 11, 1936, in
Telephone, Texas, she was the
youngest of eleven children of
Jerry and Adelia Fry, and the
one least likely to be talked
out of anything. She spent her
working years in the optical
business with Texas State
Optical, where she managed
stores across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and
made sure folks could see what they were looking at.
In the early 1990s she joined the United Pentecostal
Church and spent the rest of her life making sure
Bowie kept one open.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her ten
siblings, her beloved husband Bobby Barker, her
granddaughter Kristina, her great-grandson Austin,
and her great-great-granddaughter Enid.
Lillie is survived by her children Sharon Walker,
Rick Woodard (Carla), and Carla Courtney (Lorne);
her stepson David Miller (Robin); and her honorary
children Shirley and Jerry Bellah. She leaves twelve
grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and
seven great-great-grandchildren, along with more
nieces, nephews, and borrowed family than a notice
can hold.
A visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., Oct 6, 2026
at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel in Vernon, Texas.
Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery.
