Rodriguez competes at state wrestling

Vernon senior Shyne Rodriguez went three rounds competing in the Class 5A boys state tournament at Spring Cypress last weekend. Competing in the 215-pound division Rodriguez had a first round draw against a region champion, and he was pinned in that match by Anna’s CJ Miller. Miller finished in fifth place overall.
Rodriguez rallied for a major decision win, 10-2, against Comal Smithson Valley senior Dylan Gass in his second match, in the consolation bracket.
Rodriguez finished in the next round with a 12-6 decision loss to South Oak Cliff senior Markeist Wright, who finished in 3rd place overall.
