Wilbarger workforce earns $69M in first quarter of 2024

Wilbarger County’s workforce of 5,957 employees earned total wages of $69,127,273 and an average weekly wage of $893 during the first quarter of 2024, according to a Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages report released by the Texas Workforce Commission.
Of those 5,957 employees in Wilbarger County, 168 worked in natural resources and mining, 119 in construction, 781 in trade, transportation and utilities; 57 in information services, 176 in financial activities, 123 in professional and business services, 318 in education and health services, 523 in leisure and hospitality, 131 in other services and 2,437 in unclassified occupations. Government employment included 34 workers at the federal level and 1,088 at the local level.
Foard County’s 381 employees earned total wages of $3,807,061 and an average weekly wage of $769 during the first quarter of 2024. Of those 381 employees in the county, 15 worked in natural resources and mining, five in construction, 115 in trade, transportation and utilities: three in professional and business services, 71 in education and health services, 35 in leisure and hospitality and 38 in unclassified occupations. Government employment totaled five workers at the federal level and 94 at the local level.
The workforce of 1,318 employees in Hardeman County earned total wages of $15,820,176 during the first quarter of 2024. Of those 1,318 employees, 143 worked in natural resources and mining, 30 in construction, 253 in trade, transportation and utilities; 46 in financial activities, 24 in professional and business services, 66 in education and health services, 58 in leisure and hospitality, 31 in other services and 222 in unclassified occupations. Government employment included 17 federal, 26 state and 403 local employees.
