Edgar Word French, 84 of Chillicothe, Texas passed away on
Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, in Crowell, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at First
Methodist Church of Chillicothe, Texas with Rev. David
McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Chillicothe Cemetery
under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Ed was born Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas. He
was the son of the late William French and the late Ernestine Word
French. He married Ginny Whiteley in 1986 in Chillicothe, Texas.
He attended North Texas State University and was a member of
PIKE fraternity. He was a farmer and rancher. He was the owner and operator of French
Programming. Ed was the president of Quanah Country Club and was on the Hardeman
County Appraisal Review Board. He was also awarded the Conservation Farmer of the
Year. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Chillicothe, Texas.
Ed is survived by his wife, Ginny French of the home, two sons, Mike Reynolds of
Chillicothe, Texas and Tommy French & wife Misty of Pasco, Washington, and his
brother, Larry French of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Ed also leaves behind three
grandchildren, Dallas, Carson, and Madison, his great-grandchild, DeLany, and several
cousins.
Ed is preceded in death by his first wife, Kenny Bell and his daughter Emily French
in 1983.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at Smith Chapel in
Chillicothe, Texas.
