Public hearing set on Vernon commercial zoning request

A public hearing on a request to rezone four residential properties for commercial use will be the focus of Tuesday’s Vernon Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

The commission will meet at 4 p.m. July 21 in Vernon City Hall, 1725 Wilbarger St.

The public hearing concerns Ordinance 1871, a request from L&B Properties to change the zoning of Lots 14, 15, 24 and 25 in Block 1 of the J.H. Wiell Addition, known as 4933 Wilbarger St., from General Residential to Convenience Commercial.

Residents and other interested parties will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed zoning change during the hearing. After the hearing, commissioners are scheduled to discuss and consider the request.

The agenda does not identify the type of business or development L&B Properties is proposing for the property.

Commissioners also will discuss and consider approval of a final plat for Lot 1R, Block 1 of the Texas Townsite Company’s Addition Replat.

The meeting is open to the public.
