Marvin g. (Slick) James Sr.

   Marvin G. (Slick) James, Sr., 83 of Vernon, died on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Larry Mays. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Marvin was born Friday, July 18, 1930 in Vernon. He was the son of the late A.L. James and the late Ethel McCourt James. He married Dorothy J. Wattenbarger on Feb. 24, 1951 in Vernon.  She preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2010. Marvin had lived most of his life in Vernon. He was a farmer and a plant operator for Greenbelt Dehydrator. He was a business owner which included James Welding, and maintenance employee for Vernon ISD. Marvin enjoyed spending time with family and friends, his collection of knifes, hats and pens. He loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and the Vernon Lions. He was a member of Lockett Baptist Church.
   He is survived by two sons, Donnie James and wife Lourdes of Vernon and Marvin James Jr., and wife Inell of Vernon; two sisters, Carolyn Clauss of Springfield, Mo., and Lea Minyard of Eau Claire, Wis; two brothers,  J.R. James of Vernon and Bill James of Kendalia; five grandchildren, David James, Brad James, Melissa Dunson, Michelle Lopez and Don James Jr.,  and seven great- grandchildren, Fox James Rebekah James, Sadie James, Lilly James, Anthony Lopez, Lea Lopez and Jordan Dunson.
   He was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Bostick and Emma Armstrong, and two brothers, Clyde James and Jack James.
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Boys & Girls Club of Vernon.
