Harold Ball

   Harold Ball, 89, of Quanah, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.,  Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Chapel at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Hollenshead and James Greer officiating.  Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.
   Mr. Ball was born Dec. 9, 1924 to the late Abner C. and Annie Robbins Ball in Tyler.  He married Muriel Dean Ball on Jan. 20, 1947, in Quanah.  He graduated from Quanah High School in 1943. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Front during World War II in the Amphibious Forces. He worked for Lake Pauline Power which later became West Texas Utilities as a maintenance foreman. He retired in 1986 after 39 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing as well as doing woodworking and carpentry.
   He is survived by his wife, Muriel D. Ball of Lubbock; two sons, Steve Balland wife, Vicki, of Lubbock and Rob Ball of Quanah; three grandchildren, Corey Ball, Kellie Thomasson and Brandon Ball; three great-grandchildren, Brady Ball, Emma Ball and June Thomasson,  and several nieces and nephews.
   The family has requested that memorials may be made to Mothers against Drunk Drivers.
   The family visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Smith Funeral Home.
