Curtis Roy Roensch Sr.
GRAND BAY, ALA. — Former Wilbarger County resident Curtis Roy Roensch Sr., died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Grand Bay, Ala. Funeral services were held on March 15, 2014 at the First Evangelical Methodist Church in Irvington, Ala., with interment following at the Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Roensch was born in Winchester on Dec. 21, 1929 to the late Charles A. Roensch and Martha Benedix Roensch. He was a graduate of South Lockett High School. He was employed for over 20 years as a police officer for the city of Bayou La Batre, Ala., retiring in 1990 with the rank of captain. He was a member of the First Evangelical Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Iris Brown; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane Henning and Judy Buchanek; two brothers, C.J. Roensch and William Roensch, and several cousins of Vernon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith Roensch; a son, Curtis Roy Roensch Jr.; a grandson, Wade Roensch; a brother, Vastine Roensch,, and his stepmother, Mary Ann Lycka Roensch.
