Frances Marilyn McGee

   Frances (Fran) Marilyn McGee age 79 of Vernon, passed away on April 4, 2014 in Vernon, Texas.
    Fran was born to Anna and Sam Maier on Nov. 8, 1934 in Bartonville, Ill. She moved to Vernon in 1945 and married Jackie Wade McGee on Sept. 7, 1956. Together they had three daughters and six grandchildren who were the highlight of her life. Fran was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, JoAnn Hite and Freda Mae Maier. She is survived by her husband; a sister Thelma Graf; three daughters, Dawn and Jim Wright of Vernon, Starla and Greg Smith of Sunray, and Jill and Curtis Smithson of Vernon; six grandchildren, Erik, Zack, Jace Smithson, Hartlyn and Brayson Smith, and Allyson Graf, and  numerous friends.
   Fran dutifully served as the Wilbarger County Clerk for 34 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she enjoyed working in the nursery. She loved cooking for others and was devoted to her family and community. She was known as Mama Fran by most and will be missed by many.
   The family will hold a private graveside memorial on Monday, April 7, 2014 followed by a community Celebration of Life at 1p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
   In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran church nursery or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
